The beautiful way to change the world one prayer at a time!
There are many examples of changes in group consciousness when enough people are awakened to a new idea. When a certain critical number of people achieve an awareness, this new awareness is literally communicated from mind to mind, creating a new consciousness. Many secular changes, such as worker safety, abolishment of sweat shops and regulation of child labor conditions, for example, happened after such changes in group consciousness.. This is why Kavanah Kards are so important. The more people who use Kavanah Kards, slow down and achieve greater awareness and closeness with Hashem, the more it will raise the consciousness of Klal to do it; people will want and strive to do it--helping foster a much-needed new direction which we pray will BE"H result in Hashem bringing us shalom and brachos for all good.
THE SCIENCE OF POSITIVE POSSIBILITIES
Because Kavanah Kards help people achieve a closer relationship with Hashem, they have the potential to create a force for good that will affect the whole of Klal Yisroel.
The scientific basis for this is the many studies done in the 1970's and 80's of how large groups (thousands of people) meditating would consistently lower violent crime rates in the surrounding area. In fact, so many studies were done that they actually developed a statistically provable formula for its effect, which is: the square root of 1% of a given population will affect the total population.
A simple example is 1% of 400 people is 4, and the square root of 4 is 2. Therefore, the principle is that the positive actions and intentions of 2 people will effect 400 people. To demonstrate the exponential potential, consider the following:
If 2 people affect 400
3 affect 900
4 affect 1600
5 affect 2500
10 affect 10,000
100 affect 1,000,000!
In fact, because Kavanah Kards change our relationship with Hashem, large numbers of people using them can affect entire communities or Klal Yisroel as a whole, and possibly a very much SMALLER group of people using them will affect much LARGER populations than proven in the above studies. This can be understood because of midah k’neg midah and the principle that when we change our ratzon for Hashem, He changes His ratzon for us.
When the large groups of people in the studies disbanded, however, the violent crime rate went back up. The reason is that the meditating people merely sustained the larger group, but didn't change it. Using Kavanah Kards, does change those who use them, so the effect is sustained, and even greater than anything that could be conceived of by people who are not part of Klal Yisroel.
